This litany was created for worship on Earth Day 2009 and is based in part on Psalm 33:5: “The earth is full of the steadfast love of God.”

LITANY FOR CREATION

Choir:
God loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of the steadfast love of God.

Cantor:
Let us celebrate God’s gift of creation, contemplating our impact on this planet, and committing ourselves to responsible use of the earth. Gracious God,

All: Help us be good stewards of creation.

Cantor:
Let us restore the land and renew the forests. Let us protect the animals and their habitat. Gracious God,

All: Help us be good stewards of creation.

Cantor:
Let us rejoice in seas and lakes and streams, working to restore polluted waters and to ensure clean water for all. Gracious God,

All: Help us be good stewards of creation.

Let us decide to live simply, to use resources wisely, to tread gently. Gracious God,
