Six verses with refrain call us to love in action and in truth, as we leap to the aid of the needy, the sick, the poor, the stranger. This text was one of two winners in the LutheranArts Hymn Text Competition, and has since been set by Marty Haugen. The hymn was premiered on October 29, 2017 at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, at a hymn sing entitled For Freedom Christ Has Set Us Free in honor of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.

The Apostle Paul quotes an ancient hymn as he urges the Philippians to be like Christ, humbling themselves and serving one another. (more)
