February 6, 2026: Christine’s poem, “Lift Every Voice,” was published in Ice Out: Minnesota Writers Rising Up, an anthology of prose and poetry in response to the human cost of the ICE occupation. Edited by Ian Graham Leask (Afton Press and Calumet Editions).
January 18, 2026: Christine read her poem, “Farewell, Democracy,” as one of 26 poets who gathered at the Grand Event Center in Northfield, MN, to read poetry against fascism. The event was organized in response to the unwanted presence of ICE in Northfield and the killing of Renee Nicole Good by ICE in Minneapolis on January 7. A chapbook entitled Words to Meet the Moment: Poetry Against Fascism contains all of the poems and is available from Content Bookstore.
April 4, 2024: Christine read her poem, “Wild Horses in Grandmother’s Kitchen,” for FiftyNorth’s inaugural 2024 Poetry and Art Collaboration event, titled “Echoes & Shadows.” Local visual artists created companion pieces to the poems, and both were exhibited in the FiftyNorth (Northfield, MN) gallery during March and April of 2024.
October 7, 2023: Christine read her new poem, “Echoes: The Magic of Central Park,” as part of the Cracked Walnut Literary Festival in Northfield, MN. Nearly 40 local poets wrote site-specific pieces about local landmarks. The poems were published in 2024 through library funds under the title, Bridge and Division.
“Remembering for You”, Christine’s poem looking back at the year 2020, was included in an anthology entitled This Was 2020: Minnesotans Write About Pandemics and Social Justice in a Historic Year. The collection, published by the Ramsey County Library (MN), won the Minnesota Author Project award in the Communities Create category. Oct. 2016: Kallman’s poem “Moving Day” won 2nd place in the Annual League of Minnesota Poets Contest, “Stepping Off the Cliff” category.
